Let the Re-building Begin

Finished with the major demolition today. Got the fridge moved to its new home. Now, for the fun part. Start re-building cabinets, and get the counter tops ordered. Don't let the photos fool you...what looks like the wife mopping, is actually her showing me how to do it properly.

did you get that fridge from NASA?

It's actually a cryogenics chamber for deep space travel.

Oh. I thought it was where they kept the prime rib for the dogs.

I don't know, still seems like a NASA product to me ...

Yes...it seems rather large, but it is the size that refrigerators seem to be these days. We are hoping the cabinet enclosure will bring it into perspective.

Got the countertops ordered today. Managed to get them to knock another $100 off by putting it on a Home Depot Card.

Also found a returned microwave...called the wife and gave her the model number so she could look at it, to see if I could try and make a deal. When she pointed out it was a counter top model instead of an above range model...I offered to suspend it above the range with a couple of chains. Alas...no go.

And the beat goes on...

Bondage microwave. Kinky.

The microwave should be above the range and its matching coordinate -- same brand, style, you know built to match. Come on, Billyfish, just one little call to your wife. All I need is 5 minutes.

I am in grate admiration of your management of this project. Keep up the good work Batfish.

Are they dogs still being fed during this process?

Elaine,

Your 5 minutes with the wife would translate to a week and a half of salary to pay for stuff. You are banned, I tell you..banned!!!

Hee hee. We'll see.

Some random observations:

The livestock on top of the cabinets seem worried.

The cinderblock wall behind the fridge is a nice touch..gives it a "Santa Fe" feel.

The bottom drawer on the NASA fridge is kind of morgue-ish. Creepy! Good news is that it looks like you should be able to fit a keg or two above the drawer.
